TRW8579, 1968, condition A/B %u20ac 30.000 %u2013 34.000In the spring of 1967, the close collaboration betweenNASA and Hasselblad led to the development of a camera intended for lunar surface photography. The result was a specially modified SWC, equipped with a large frame finder, reinforced shutter mechanism, enlarged release button, oversized film winder, magazine catch, and a lightweight film magazine adapted to accommodate 200 exposuresof 70 mm perforated film. Despite these sophisticated modifications, the lunar SWC project was ultimately abandoned. Following astronauts%u2019 feedback, NASA selected the motorized Hasselblad 500 EL, which proved easier to operate on the Moon%u2019s surface, where bulky space suits significantly restricted movement. Only approximately 25 SWC Lunar Surface cameras were produced, making surviving examples exceptionally rare. The offered camera is preserved in excellent condition and good working order. It is fitted with a Biogon 4.5/38 mm lens, no. 4165562, and accompanied by the special ultra-light 70 mm Lunar Mission magazine no. TU400060 (NASA designation P/N SEB 33100082 %u2014 S/N 020). A rare and historically significant piece from the pioneering era of manned space exploration.
