108208Leica IIIc K Grey W.H. An original Leica IIIc K grey W.H., a rare wartime variant of the classic screwmount Leica IIIc. The suffix %u2018K%u2019 (for K%u00e4ltefest, indicating ball bearings in the shutter and film transport for improved cold-weather performance) and the grey finish are characteristic features of this military production run made between roughly 1940 and 1944. This particular example is engraved %u2018W.H.%u2019 (Wehrmacht-Heer) on the top plate, denoting delivery to the German Army procurement service, and retains the unusual fiducial point markings at the film plane visible when the shutter is open%u2014a factory-applied reference system used on only a small number ofwartime Leica bodies for measurement or indexing purposes. These fiducial points divide the long dimension of the 24%u00d7 36mm format and are seldompreserved intact, as they were often removed in service or afterwards. The camera is presented in original grey painted finish with matching greyvulcanite, white %u2018K%u2019 on the shutter curtain, and overall strong condition consistent with careful preservation. All mechanical functions operate properly, and the rangefinder and viewfinder remain clear. It comes with a matching W.H. Elmar 3.5/5 cm no. 593652. A compelling and historically significant variant of the Leica IIIc family, notable for its military provenance, distinctive technical features, and rarity among wartime Leica production.Start price %u20ac 6.000est. %u20ac 12.000%u2013 14.000Serial no. 391511KYear of production: 1944condition: A/B
