Produced in approximately 2,000 examples, all in black paint, this version represents one of the most desirable later variants of the Nikon rangefinder system. Commonly associated with the so-called %u2018Olympic%u2019 Nikkor-S 1.4/5 cm, the model combines the classic S3 design with the appeal of Nikon%u2019s final rangefinder-era production. This example is offered in beautiful, near-mint condition and comes with a matching all-black Nikkor-S Auto 1.4/5 cm no.140196 and hood. A highly attractive and increasingly sought-after collector%u2019s camera.339 Nikon S3M Half-Frame %u20ac15.000*black paintno. 6600031, 1960, condition A%u2013 %u20ac 30.000 %u2013 34.000A rare Nikon S3M in original black finish, from the first of only two production batches, manufactured in August 1960. Produced in only approx. 195 examples, with fewer than half believed to have been finished in black paint, the model ranks among the rarest and most unusual cameras of the entire Nikon rangefinder system. Designed as a half-frame variant of the Nikon S3 for 18 %u00d7 24 mm exposures, it allowed up to 72 images on a standard 36-exposure film and was intended for use with the S72 motor drive. This example is offered in beautiful, near-mint condition and comes with a matching Nikkor-S 1.4/5 cm no. 404665 and a lens hood.335 Nikon S2 black paint Type One %u20ac3.000*no. 6168399, c.1956, condition A/B %u20ac 6.000 %u2013 7.000Very rare original S2 black paint camera, first%u00a0version with all-black shutter speed dial, in%u00a0very good%u00a0condition and working order, witha lovely%u00a0patina on the edges, including an all-black Nikkor S.C 1.4/5 cm no. 361519 (excellent condition, only minimal cleaning marks), rare black hood, and eveready case.336 Nikon S3 Olympic chrome %u20ac4.000*no. 6321665, 1964, condition A%u2013 %u20ac 8.000 %u2013 9.000An almost unknown Nikon S3 from the%u00a0%u2018Olympic%u2019 batch in chrome finish, one of the rarest and least documented variants of the entire Nikon rangefinder system. While the vast majority of cameras from this special late production run were finished in black paint, chrome examples are virtually never encountered and remain largely absent even from advanced collections. This camera displays the characteristic technical features associated with the %u2018Olympic%u2019 series, including the titanium shutter and the later Nikon F-type advance lever, and is offered here with the correct all-black Olympic Nikkor 1.4/5 cm no.141079.
